Job Description: CEPR is seeking an economist, Ph.D. preferred. S/he would perform economic analysis, write issue briefs, research papers, and other publications on international economic issues, including trade, globalization, and development, with a focus on Latin America. CEPR will consider employing an individual who is located abroad and who can effectively telecommute, provided they can interview in person.
Responsibilities: - Implementing and supervising economic research projects
- Writing original research papers, reports, and other publications
- Coordinating the work of research assistants
- Assisting with funding proposals and reports
- Serving as a spokesperson for CEPR with the media and in outreach to the international policy community
Qualifications: - The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications. However, CEPR will consider strong candidates whose experience and capabilities are roughly equivalent.
- Advanced degree in economics or related field, preferably at the Ph.D. level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Superior writing and analytic skills
- Ability to initiate and conduct research projects independently
- In-depth knowledge of contemporary economic issues affecting Latin America, including trade, globalization, and regional integration
- Fluency in Spanish
- Compatibility with CEPR's perspective and commitment to social and economic justice

Job Description:
The Program Assistant is responsible for a variety of important duties within the organization. He/She will play an essential role in a number of daily tasks assisting the research, outreach and communications staff. Approximately 40 percent of the Program Assistant’s time will be spent preparing documents for publication, which includes proofreading and formatting papers, columns, and press releases for the CEPR website and listservs. Another 40 percent will be spent working on various multimedia projects, including managing the website and editing images and audio/video files. The remaining 20 percent consists of various administrative tasks, including assisting in the arrangement of meetings or conferences, serving as a back-up to the office manager, and performing other miscellaneous duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent background.
- Experience with website content management systems, email blasting programs, publication layout/design, and word processing, spreadsheet, and database software preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in fast-paced environment, ability to work independently and with team, good written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and sense of humor necessary.

The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is currently looking for a full-time Fall Intern. The internship will start in late August and run into December.
The intern will assist with a variety of research, outreach, and communications activities related to the U.S. economy and domestic policy. This may include outreach to the press, advocacy organizations and Congress, along with some research on upcoming papers and economic opinion pieces. Other tasks may include communications duties such as generating website content and tracking CEPR’s appearances in the media.
The responsibilities of interns vary based on their interests and experience, as well as the particular issues that CEPR is working on at the time. Interns will have the opportunity to attend relevant events around Washington, DC.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a recent college graduate or graduate student for this full-time position. Applicants should have a general understanding of economics and domestic policy, and an interest in economic justice. Excellent writing and communications skills are required. Previous research, outreach, or media experience is helpful. The intern will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and should be a self-starter, independent learner, and will receive limited management.
Salary:
$1,160 per month, plus up to $200 for health insurance reimbursement per month.

The intern will need to be fluent in Spanish, including the ability to perform accurate written translations; able to work in a fast-paced environment with limited management; and a self-starter and independent learner.
