Strong Job Growth Leads to Drop in Black/Hispanic Unemployment

The unemployment rate fell to 8.3 percent in January, bringing its drop over the last year to 0.8 percentage points. African Americans in particular saw an especially sharp decline in unemployment, with their overall rate falling to 13.6 percent, the lowest level since March of 2009.

Among OECD Nations, United States has Highest Percentage of Workforce in Low-Wage Work

Amid concerns of high and rising rates of low-wage work, a new CEPR report looks at the recent experiences of the United States and other rich economies in the OECD and draws five distinct lessons showing that countries can succeed in reducing low pay, if they take the right steps.
