Budget Cuts and the Economy: The NYT Notices!

The NYT had a piece discussing the impact on the economy of the budget cuts in the compromise agreement last week. The prospect of losing hundreds of thousands of jobs should have been a central theme in the discussion of the negotiations, but it was almost never mentioned.

That's a relief. If it's in the Times it must be happening - but only to Liberals though.

Obama, his advisers, Congress, well-known journalists and pundits, tenured academics — all have nothing at all to fear if the economy again turns down. No Social Security? No problem. No Medicare, no retirement savings, no job, no decent public schools -- none of these things affect the wealthy.

The vast majority of Americans are entirely unrepresented in Congress.
