Health Insurance Does Help

In my case I had always wanted to do computer consulting on my own but the cost of insurance was the limiting factor. I took an early retirement at 50 (very small pension) since I could get retiree health insurance. I ran my own small computer consulting company for over 10 years after that. Looking at my income before and after I can truthfully say I paid significantly more taxes as a consultant than I did as an employee. Does that qualify? - Larry G

These are some very interesting points here. I have to think that social security and a public healthcare system would give someone more security to do their own thing. The part that I feel still scares people away from going on their own is the fact that there is no guarantee of social security income when we retire and there are a lot of stipulations to it when we do get to that age ]poker sites - Brian
