WASHINGTON – Slow and steady job growth in blue collar sectors continue in Rust Belt states again this month, reflecting the national trend, according to a new analysis by the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR).

But looking over the past year, variations emerge. Some states have had a notable uptick in manufacturing job growth, specifically: Iowa, with an increase of 10,400 jobs or 4.9 percent of total manufacturing employment; Illinois, with an increase of 18,200 or 3.2 percent of total manufacturing employment; and, Wisconsin, with an increase of 13,200 or 2.8 percent of total manufacturing employment.

In spite of modest blue collar job growth, there is no clear evidence of accelerating wage growth.
